The spline brake camshaft is the core part of the automobile brake system. Its cam dimension precision, symmetry, and contour surface roughness have higher requirements. The traditional machining method of brake camshaft is mainly carried out on the profiling machines, which have low machining efficiency and poor precision. The profiling machining method needs more adjustment time to change the different types of the involute brake camshafts and make the profiler molds. With the development of the automobile industry and diversification, this traditional processing method is not enough to meet the production needs.

Although the general numerical control system can meet the product precision requirements, its diverse functions result in the waste of resources, cost increase, and low processing efficiency. Especially for the involute contour machining, a general numerical control system is difficult to achieve.

A special purpose machine is an indispensable part of the automatic production system. The unique numerical control system we use is mainly used for milling the arc contour and involute contour of the brake camshafts. The most important machining of brake camshafts contour is to control the main parameters, so the worker needs to input these parameters in the control panel to start the processing. In this way, we can save much time on the trajectory programming on a general CNC system, and solve the low accuracy of traditional processing methods and low efficiency of a general CNC system.
